Too much incense in the opening for me. I think PDM Oaja does it better than this one in the spicy dark. It's much more interesting.

Weird but great

The opening is strange. Very old money smelling. The dry down is heavenly though. Perfect for black tie situations.

A Dark PDM

Interesting, complex scent. It feels like Layton's darker brother. I'd say it's more of an acquired taste - I appreciated the scent, but couldn't see myself wearing it regularly.
If you like dark, strong scents then this may be for you.

Perfection

This is just blended perfectly. Not too sweet or spicey. Has a mysterious quality that just draws me in. Not for everyone but for me this is one of my favorites.

Not what I expected

I can definitely say that this is a complex scent that evolves throughout the wearing. The opening isn’t really enjoyable to me though, and generally isn’t my scent.

Boozy yet satisfyingly

Not like Red Tobacco

Carlisle has been likened to other scents and I'm not sure I smell it. It's warm, vanilla and wood heavy with patchouli being very prominent. I guess they all start smelling somewhat similar but I really think this stands alone and doesn't smell like Red Tobacco or Mystery Tobacco.

Very rich, beast mode, with accords of sweet green apple, then safron, then tonka, vanilla. If you like orientals, this fragrance is highly recommended.

This scent gets a lot of love among influencers. First time I sprayed it on I didn’t care for it. Liking it more with every wear. Complex. Sweet, spicy, with maybe a leathery scent. Cold weather appropriate.

An Acquired Taste

I was told by several people that I needed to smell this one, so I was excited to get a decant. It is, however, not the easiest to digest. I get a lot of smoky casino vibes, with a hint of spice (nutmeg?), but not in a pleasant way. Maybe it grows on you, but I didn't have the guts to spray it again. I'll admit that the performance and sillage are good (only reason not 1 star), but man, I was close to washing this thing off my body altogether.
